Buna familia mea si prietenii mei!
Guess who I got to see last week but didn't have any pictures with yet??
I miss this lovely lady SO much, but I've heard that she is doing amazing things out in Chisinau. I'm so proud of her. Doesn't she look amazing? We had so much catching up to do at MLC, but we were back to being besties in no time at all.
In other news this week, we had so much fun with our buddy Eugen...
He likes to take black and white pictures with us on snapchat.
Eugen is a member here in Sibiu who is just the absolute sweetest! We helped him prepare his Sunday School lesson this past week over Helaman 6. He did a great job teaching and we were so proud of him!
Where Justice, Love, and Mercy Meet
So, probably the biggest highlight from this past week is that we were able to set a baptismal date with our friend Gabi for a year from now, which is awesome! When we met with her this past week she expressed to us that she had been going through some stuff that was pretty hard. We listened, and as we talked with her we felt like we should watch Elder Holland's talk Where Justice, Love, and Mercy Meet. For those of you who haven't seen it, the link is below. It's an amazing talk to listen to if life, as it often does, seems to be just a little bit overwhelming. After watching the talk and expressing our love for Gabi, we invited her to keep meeting with the missionaries and asked her if she would like to be baptized. She said yes and we made a plan for her to continue learning over the next year so she can feel the most ready and most content with her decision.
I want to share a quote from this talk that I found to be particularly inspiring:
"Is our only purpose in life an empty existential exercise—simply to leap as high as we can, hang on for our prescribed three score years and ten, then fail and fall, and keep falling forever?
The answer to those questions is an unequivocal and eternal no!"
While talking with Gabi, we discussed how life is filled with ups and downs and how problems don't go away simply because we are righteous. Sometimes, things get harder the harder we try. But that doesn't mean that we can stop trying! We must always press forward. We must always believe in life and love and light even when we are labeled as naive for believing or caring or hoping. Our lives are not an empty existential exercise; they are filled with purpose and potential. I love watching people realize this simple, yet beautiful truth: it always gets better. Why? Because Heavenly Father wants it to be. We are meant to experience joy in our lives...so let's do it! :)
I love you all and hope each of you has a wonderful week!
PS - Sora Chandler is the cutest and if I haven't said so before, I am so grateful for her!! Thank God for friends - they make life worth living.
